Former UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey (pictured) was the one hosting “Saturday Night Live” yesterday, but it was bitter rival Cris “Cyborg” Justino who dropped the funniest line of the night.
During Rousey’s opening monologue, Justino couldn’t help but notice the “Rowdy” one, or the person who wrote Rousey’s speech, wasn’t too funny.
“Watching #SNL and it looks like @RondaRousey still needs help on her standup,” Justino tweeted.
Speaking of people who don’t write their own material – Kenny Florian, you’re not alone – it’s clear Justino had someone post that on her behalf since her English and humor is far behind the creativity of the line.
Something Rousey should get props for, besides being the first UFC fighter to host the iconic live skit comedy show, was the fact she finally congratulated Holly Holm on demolishing her at UFC 193.
For the most part, Rousey has been radio silent regarding November’s devastating defeat, and when she has discussed it, Rousey has never given Holm any credit even though she was completely dominated and ended up unconscious on the canvas with a highlight reel head kick that will haunt Rousey for the rest of her life.
That finally came to an end on live television Saturday night.
“This is also the first time I’m talking to the fans since I lost to Holly Holm in November,” Rousey said. “Which, by the way, Holly deserved to win and I just want to take a minute to sincerely congratulate her.”
Rousey was expected to get an immediate rematch with Holm at UFC 200 in July, but Rousey requested and was granted additional time off. She is expected to start filming the remake of “Road House,” where she serves as the main character, shortly.
