Dana White Opens the Door for Fedor

UFC President Dana White knows that Fedor Emelianenko is still one of the top two fighters in the world at any weight class and would be a huge asset for the sport’s premier organization. “I want Fedor to come in and fight the best. At the end of the day, I’m a fight fan,” White told the Boston Herald.

The problem is the only way that Fedor would ever step into the Octagon is if Affliction let him out of his contract, because the UFC will never co-promote again.

“People want to call him the best heavyweight pound-for-pound. Wait until he gets in and starts fighting some of these guys,” White continued.

To Dana White, the best happens to lie in the UFC with Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (who Fedor has dominated twice in Pride), Brock Lesnar and Randy Couture. There are still plenty of very respectable fights outside of the UFC for Fedor, but with Affliction still contemplating their next move with him, we’re going to have to wait until 2009 for another Fedor sighting.
