On Friday, Bellator announced a light heavyweight shootout between Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal and former UFC star Phil Davis will headline Bellator 153. Former lightweight champion Michael Chandler will also face Josh Thomson in the May 14 show.

SAP Center in San Jose, California hosts the festivities.

Lawal is white hot having won seven straight scraps. The former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion is fresh off running through three heavyweights to sweep December’s Rizin Heavyweight Grand Prix.

Davis is perfect in his two Bellator bouts since leaving the UFC. “Mr. Wonderful” submitted Emanuel Newton in his Bellator debut and followed that up by knocking out Francis Carmont in September.

Thomson has also rattled off two straight wins since leaving the UFC. The 37-year-old was last seen TKO’ing Pablo Villaseca in December.

Chandler has found his groove again after dropping three consecutive fights. “Iron” submitted Derek Campos in July and TKO’d David Rickels in November.

Spike TV will broadcast the main card live.
