Poor, Roan Carneiro. He got a first-hand taste of the new and improved Derek Brunson (pictured) Sunday at UFC Fight Night 82, and I would expect he won’t be asking for seconds.
The beginning of the end for Carneiro came when he missed madly on a right hook and lost his balance. Brunson quickly pounced and gave him the business on the ground. After countless punches to the face, the assault was called to a halt.
The official stoppage came at 2:38 in the first round.
Brunson has quietly won four straight fights. He trails only Yoel Romero (7), who could be suspended at least two years after a failed drug test, and middleweight champion Luke Rockhold (5) for most consecutive victories in the division. Rafael Natal has also rattled off four in a row.
UFC Fight Night 82 took place inside Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
