Despite reports lightweight Kenny Florian will be welcoming Japanese star Takanori Gomi to the Octagon at “UFC Fight Night 21,” Florian states he hasn’t been approached yet about the fight.

“It’s funny, I haven’t heard anything about [fighting Gomi] at all,” Florian told MMAJunkie.com. “I don’t know how people would know that before the fighters, but I definitely haven’t heard anything about that.”

“UFC Fight Night 21” is slated to take place inside The Odeum in Broomfield, Colorado on March 21st.  Although the 155-pound scrap would likely co-headline the Versus broadcast, it would mark the first time Florian has fought on a non-pay-per-view event since he defeated Joe Lauzon at “UFC Fight Night 13” in April 2008.

The Bostonian knows he’s not calling the shots, however if he were …

“I don’t make the business decisions, obviously, but it really doesn’t make a lot of sense to not have us on pay-per-view,” Florian said. “I think a lot of people would want to see that fight if it was going to happen, and I don’t see – if it was going to happen – how it could be on [Spike TV or Versus].”

Florian looked sensational in his last outing where he submitted an always-game Clay Guida in the 2ndRound of their UFC 107 contest. The win bumped his record to an impressive 12-4, with all but one of his W’s ending before the final bell.

With no specific foe to focus on, it’s business as usual at the Florian Martial Arts Center, however don’t think Kenny’s not sitting by his cell.

“I guess I just have to sit back, keep training hard, and be ready for the call,” Florian added.
