During Friday’s “UFC Unstoppable” press conference in Las Vegas, it was announced that a welterweight affair between former top contender Rory MacDonald (pictured) and Stephen Thomson will headline UFC Fight Night 88.
The June 18 event takes place inside Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
MacDonald is looking to bounce back from July’s TKO loss to current welterweight champ Robbie Lawler. “Red King” is victorious in eight of his past 10 outings.
Thompson is one of the hottest fighters in the division having won six straight scraps, four of which ended via some form of (T)KO. “Wonderboy” finished former champ Johny Hendricks in January.
It is unknown if UFC Fight Pass, Fox Sports 1, Fox Sports 2 or some combination of the three will broadcast the event live in America.
No other bouts have been announced for the lineup at this time.
