Heavyweight Mark Hunt (pictured) isn’t just the “KFC King” any longer, he’s also the walk-off KO king. Hunt did it again Saturday at UFC Fight Night 85 in front of his fellow Australians.
His victim this time was former champion Frank Mir.
Their shootout didn’t last too long. It was clear Mir’s plan was to take Hunt to the mat, hoping to avoid Hunt’s trademark right haymaker.
Yeah, about that…
Mir bobbed when he should have weaved and found himself dazed and confused on the canvas after eating a perfectly placed right hook directly behind the ear. Hunt gave him a shrug and walked away before referee Mark Goddard even stepped in to stop the scrap.
It was clear Mir was done.
The official stoppage came at 3:01 in the opening round.
Hunt scored an additional $50,000 for a “Performance of the Night” award.
UFC Fight Night 85 took place inside Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Brisbane.
