Here’s something interesting, and by “interesting,” I mean petty. UFC golden girl Ronda Rousey (pictured) hates Paige VanZant, the UFC’s up-and-coming golden girl, for congratulating Holly Holm after she knocked out Rousey in November to capture the UFC bantamweight title.
Did you get that? Rousey actually despises VanZant more than she does Holm, the woman who made her look absolutely silly before putter her to sleep with a highlight reel head kick that sent her into depression.
True story, according to VanZant.
“It appears that I offended Ronda by congratulating Holly after her victory. The incident was very shocking and totally unnecessary,” VanZant told TMZ Sports in a statement (Yes, apparently this catfighting was such a big deal that PVZ needed to issue a STATEMENT).

VanZant didn’t elaborate on Rousey’s alleged “shocking and totally unnecessary” behavior, but current UFC bantamweight champ and lifetime Rousey rival Miesha Tate was more than happy to pour the tea while appearing on Joe Rogan’s “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast.
“Paige and I have spoken before, we’re friendly, but I don’t know her that well. Anyway, she felt the need, she came up to me, ‘Miesha, Miesha, I have to tell you this experience I had with Ronda.’ I’m like, ‘Oh, what?’ She’s like, ‘We were at a Reebok deal recently and we were at a shoot and I was trying to find her so we could get a picture, and the Reebok people were like, ‘Don’t ask Ronda for a picture.’ She’s like, ‘Why?’ and they’re like, ‘Just don’t. Stay away from Ronda, don’t ask her for a picture.’ She’s like, ‘Ok?’, Tate said.
“I guess Ronda came later that day and seeked her out and just like cussed her out. Like, they’ve never really had a conversation, either. She’s like, ‘I don’t know Ronda other than ‘Hi-bye.’ That’s it.’ I guess Ronda came up and was like, ‘F**k you, you fair-weather b***h. How dare you cross me?’ She’s like, ‘Cross you? What are you talking about?’ And she’s like, ‘You congratulated Holly Holm for beating me so f**k you, you f*****g fair-weather 115-pound…’ She just went off on Paige. And Paige came and told me and I was like, ‘Honey, welcome to my world.’ She was like, ‘I’m glad I saw this side of her so I know.'”
“She’s like, ‘I told Ronda I’m sorry if that offended you but I’m allowed to congratulate whoever I want.’ And she’s like, ‘I congratulated Rose Namajunas when she beat me, like, congratulations, you whooped my ass, that was a bad-ass performance,’ and she’s like, ‘I simply told Holly congratulations once and it wasn’t anything anti-Ronda,’ but I guess Ronda just ripped her a new one.”
Rousey’s PR team did a masterful job of repairing Rousey’s battered image after the beating it took when she served as Tate’s opposing coach on “The Ultimate Fighter 18” back in 2013. Rousey, who entered the reality show as the UFC’s biggest superstar, came off as a bully and rubbed many viewers the wrong way. How much of a hit did her popularity take because of TUF? Tate received more fan votes than Rousey in their head-to-head matchup to score the cover of EA Sport’s first UFC video game.
That drama seems like eons ago thanks to Rousey’s PR team, but they will be working overtime once again thanks to Rousey’s run-in with VanZant, who has no incentive to lie about the incident.
If Rousey is going to hate everyone who congratulated Holm – or worse yet, cheered for Holm after annihilating Rousey – then Rousey’s going to be cussing out a lot more people.
