Anthony “Rumble” Johnson (pictured) won’t be rumbling against Glover Teixeira at UFC on FOX 20. According to MMAFighting.com, Johnson has been forced to withdraw from the July 23 event for undisclosed reasons.
The UFC has yet to address the report. It is unknown if the promotion intends on keeping Teixeira in the lineup or saving the former top contender for another day.
The light heavyweight matchup was slated to co-headline the show.
Johnson has won 11 of his past 12 bouts, including two straight. “Rumble,” the division’s scariest fighter, knocked out Jimi Manuwa and Ryan Bader after getting submitted by Daniel Cormier at UFC 187 for Jon Jones’ vacant light heavyweight title.
Teixeira has rattled off three consecutive victories after dropping two straight. The Brazilian has finished off Ovince St. Preux, Pat Cummins and Rashad Evans during his current run.
United Center in Chicago, Illinois hosts the festivities.
