Anthony Johnson (pictured) vs. Glover Teixeira: Take Two. After watching Johnson withdraw from their July 23 fight for undisclosed reasons, the UFC has pushed their light heavyweight tango back to UFC 202.
The UFC made the announcement late Monday night. The 205-pounders will co-headline the card, opening for the highly anticipated rematch between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz.
UFC 202 goes down August 20 inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Johnson has won 11 of his past 12 bouts, including two straight. “Rumble,” the division’s scariest fighter, knocked out Jimi Manuwa and Ryan Bader after getting submitted by Daniel Cormier at UFC 187 for Jon Jones’ vacant light heavyweight title.
Teixeira has rattled off three consecutive victories after dropping two straight. The Brazilian has finished off Ovince St. Preux, Pat Cummins and Rashad Evans during his current run.
In addition, a welterweight bout between Donald Cerrone and Rick Story was also added to the roster.
