It was approximately 1AM ET when UFC 200‘s main event started on Saturday night. Perhaps Miesha Tate thought it was supposed to start at 1AM PT, because the now-former UFC bantamweight champion didn’t even show up against Amanda Nunes (pictured).
Tate may have been trying to feel Nunes out before opening up, but the Brazilian never allowed her to get off. Nunes stuffed a takedown attempt and started to tee off. She rocked Tate with a right hand and pounced.
Nunes went for the kill and dropped Tate with a combination. She quickly jumped on Tate’s back and locked in a body lock before slapping on a rear-naked choke that would forever change her life. Tate tapped seconds later, despite the fact the choke wasn’t under her chin.
Perhaps Tate was so dazed and confused she panicked.
The official stoppage came at 3:16 in the opening stanza.
The bright side for Tate is that she won’t have to get submitted by Ronda Rousey again.
UFC 200 took place inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
