Let’s start things off by giving props to Anderson Silva for accepting a fight against Daniel Cormier (pictured) on just two days’ notice.
Silva just had his gullbladder removed in May, hasn’t been training, moved up in weight to fight the division’s champion after taking a long flight from Brazil to face Cormier at UFC 200 after Jon Jones got pulled from his rematch with Cormier after flunking a pre-fight drug test.
That being said, Silva was completely overwhelmed by Cormier in one of the most boring fights in MMA history. The crowd continued to boo Cormier every time he took Silva down and held him there with the greatest of ease.
Sure, it wasn’t exciting, but what was Cormier supposed to do? Stand and exchange with Silva knowing that was the only way he could get upset? Furthermore, it was just far too easy to plant Silva on his back and grind out a win.
So, here are the “highlights” of Cormier’s landslide unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-26) win.
UFC 200 took place inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
