Although Michael Bisping isn’t one to ever shy away from good ‘ol fashioned trash talkin’, the Brit claims to have nothing bad to say about his UFC 110 opponent.
“I have got the greatest respect for Wanderlei Silva,” Bisping stated in a recent video blog. “Early on in my career I used to watch a lot of [him] back in PRIDE. He has always been one of my favorite fighters and I have got nothing but respect for the guy so to be fighting a legend like Wanderlei Silva for me is a great honor.”
It was rumored that Bisping had said Wandy was scared of him, to which the Brazilian responded with a resounding, “LMFAO” – or something similar to it. However, Bisping says any reports of him dissing Silva are completely unfounded because he’s always been more of a fan than foe.
“He says he is not scared of me – of course he is not scared of me, he has fought some of the biggest names in the world but make no mistake, I am not scared of him either,” Bisping said. “I think it’s a very winnable fight for me. I am going to go out there and give it my best and I plan on winning in Australia.”
Bisping bounced back nicely from his devastating LIGHTS OUT knockout loss to Dan Henderson at UFC 100 when he posted a 2ndRound TKO over Denis Kang at UFC 105 in November. The win bumped his professional record to an impressive 18-2.
Silva was once known as MMA’s most vicious finisher, however has dropped five of his last six scraps, including his last two. This contest will mark his first in the UFC’s 185-lb. division, however his last took place in a 195-pound catchweight bout against former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin.
