UFC 201 Lineup Takes Last-Minute Hit

UFC Justin Scoggins

Saturday’s flyweight scrap between Justin Scoggins (pictured) and Ian McCall, which was slated to kick off UFC 201‘s live pay-per-view broadcast, has been scrapped after Scoggins informed the UFC late Thursday night that he was having weight cutting issues.

The 24-year-old’s body wasn’t responding as he had hoped and he felt he wouldn’t be able to make the 126 pound maximum for a non-title flyweight tilt.

It is unknown if McCall will still receive his show money if he makes weight when he tips the scale later today as an “alternate.”

As a result of Scoggins’ blunder, the heavyweight tango between Damian Grabowski and Anthony Hamilton, which was originally slated to appear on the UFC Fight Pass portion of the event, gets bumped to the Fox Sports 1 broadcast. Flyweights Ryan Benoit and Fredy Serrano get promoted to the main card courtesy of Scoggins.

It’s obviously not a drastic blow to the lineup, unless you’re a Scoggins or McCall fanatic. The welterweight showdown between champion Robbie Lawler and Tyron Woodley still headlines the gig.

Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia hosts the festivities.

Here is Saturday’s revised agenda:
