The good news is a lightweight shootout between former UFC champion Rafael Dos Anjos (pictured) and Tony Ferguson is going down in Mexico City. The bad news is that November 5 is a long way away, leaving the door open for the injury bug to ruin things.
ESPN.com confirmed the scrap Tuesday with sources close to the situation.
Dos Anjos is looking to bounce back from last month’s TKO loss to Eddie Alvarez that cost him his belt in his second title defense. The Brazilian had won won five straight bouts prior to facing Alvarez at UFC Fight Night 90.
Ferguson, meanwhile, is arguably the division’s hottest fighter having rattled off eight consecutive victories, finishing off six of those victims before the final horn. Ferguson was slated to meet Michael Chiesa last month at UFC Fight Night 91, but Chiesa was forced to bow out with an injury.
“El Cucuy” went on to beat last-minute replacement Lando Vannata that evening.
Fox Sports 1 is expected to broadcast the main card live in America.
No other bouts have been reported for the lineup.
