Former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold (pictured) wanted to get right back into title contention after losing his belt to Michael Bisping June. There’s no better way of doing that than by proving his mettle against one of the scariest fighters in the division.
It has been announced Rockhold will headline UFC Fight Night Australia against Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza. The November 26 event goes down at a yet-to-be announced venue in Melbourne, Australia. Fox Sports 1 will broadcast the main card live in America.
Rockhold beat Souza five years ago to capture the Strikeforce middleweight crown. The unanimous decision victory put Rockhold’s name on the MMA map and he really hasn’t looked back since. Rockhold has won five of his past six fights, but will be looking to bounce back from his shocking upset loss to Bisping at UFC 199.
Souza, meanwhile, is red hot having won nine of his last 10 bouts. The Brazilian’s lone blemish during his current run came two outings ago in a split decision to Yoel Romero.
No other bouts have been announced for the lineup.
