UFC middleweight Josh Samman (pictured) has died at the age of 28 after being in a coma for nearly a week.
Multiple sources have confirmed Samman’s passing. Samman’s manager, Gary Ibarra, told FoxSports.com that the fighter’s family will be releasing a statement later today.
The UFC has not addressed Samman’s death.
Samman, along with roommate Troy Kirkingburg, were found unresponsive in their Hollywood Beach Gardens, Florida apartment last Thursday. Kirkingburg was pronounced dead later that night.
The cause of Samman’s death is currently unknown. The Hollywood Police Department suspect it was a drug overdose. Although, “Detectives are investigating. No more information is available at this time.”
Samman’s mother released a brief statement earlier this week denying reports that heroin was involved.
Samman owned a 12-4 professional mixed martial arts record. He hit the big leagues as a contestant on “The Ultimate Fighter 17.” He won his first three fights in the UFC, but lost his last two bouts inside the octagon.
He was last seen dropping a TKO to Tim Boetsch in July.
