Yeah, unfortunately you did read the headline correctly. After seeing Luke Rockhold bow out of the show’s main event against Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza with an undisclosed injury, the UFC promoted the show’s co-main event between Robert Whittaker and Derek Brunson (pictured) to the new featured attraction.
So, Australians went from anticipating a pivotal – potential middleweight top contender tango – to settling for Whittaker vs. Brunson. No offense, but maybe this is another one of the UFC’s many events to close out 2016 that should be canceled.
Sure, Whittaker and Brunson have each rattled off five five straight wins, and Whittaker is the middleweight division’s seventh-ranked fighter who will be performing in front of his home country, but the matchup isn’t main event worthy.
Regardless, it’s happening on November 26, November 27 in America due to time zone differences.
Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia hosts the event.
Here is the show’s updated roster:
Zhikui Yao vs. Jenel Lausa
Seo Hee Ham vs. Danielle Taylor
Yusuke Kasuya vs. Alex Volkanovski

Geane Herrera vs. Ben Nguyen
