Former Strikeforce lightweight champion, Gilbert Melendez, has lost two out of his last three fights, which includes losing his title to Josh Thomson this past June.
Melendez admits that he hasn’t gone all out in training as he should have, telling MMANews, “I feel like I trained harder in the past and it showed in there.”
The former champion only has one fight left under his current Strikeforce contract, but that’s not a major concern right now according to Melendez, “I will do this next fight and see where I am at, after that I will weigh out my options from there.”
Once considered one of the top three lightweights in the world, Melendez is anxious for his next fight.
“I am going to take my time and I believe I will be fighting in January for Strikeforce,” Melendez confirmed.
