Poor Ian McCall (pictured) just can’t seem to catch a break. On Saturday morning, roughly six hours before he was to fight Jarred Brooks at UFC 208, the flyweight was pulled from the lineup with “gastrointestinal issues.”
“Flyweight contender Ian McCall has been removed from tonight’s UFC 208 bout against Jarred Brooks due to illness, the UFC expressed in a statement. “McCall was transported to a local hospital with gastrointestinal issues and was pulled from the card on the doctor’s recommendation.”
Strangely, McCall’s tweet Friday doesn’t quite coincide with the UFC’s explanation.
I need spike shoes with all this ice… just my luck to slip and have some bad shit happy 24 hours before I get to play

Regardless, UFC 208 will proceed with 10 bouts. This comes one day after Justin Willis was yanked from his bout against Marcin Tybura after missing weight.
Today’s unfortunate incident falls in line with what McCall has dealt with over the past year. His fight with Justin Scoggins was cancelled two days before the event because Scoggins wasn’t able to make weight.
McCall’s next bout was scheduled for UFC 203 until opponent Ray Borg fell off the card just one day before showtime due to illness.
Then, McCall was forced out of his most recent bout against Neil Seery when he became ill a day before the fight.
UFC 208 takes place inside Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
