Kelvin Gastelum is going to try and take down two Brazilian legends in three months. On Tuesday, it was announced “The Ultimate Fighter 17” winner will battle former middleweight king Anderson Silva (pictured) at UFC 212.
The June 3 event goes down inside HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Gastelum is fresh off Saturday’s landslide TKO victory over Vitor Belfort. He has won four of his past five scraps, including three straight. An impressive finish over “The Spider” would certainly catapult him into title contention.
Silva, meanwhile, posted a desperately needed win last month in a controversial unanimous decision over Derek Brunson. The bout marked Silva’s first win since embarrassing Stephan Bonnar in October 2012 at UFC 153. That was when Silva was sitting firmly atop the MMA game.
Here is the show’s current lineup:
Antonio Carlos Junior vs. Eric Spicely
Johnny Eduardo vs. Matthew Lopez
Marco Beltran vs. Deiveson Alcantara
Karolina Kowalkiewicz vs. Claudia Gadelha
Anderson Silva vs. Kelvin Gastelum
Max Holloway (UFC interim featherweight champion) vs. Jose Aldo (UFC featherweight champion)
