Disgraced MMA fighter War Machine (pictured) was found guilty of kidnapping, battery and sexually assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Christy Mack.
On Monday, jurors inside a Las Vegas courtroom were deadlocked on two attempted-murder charges against War Machine, formerly known as Jonathan Koppenhaver, but convicted him of the other 29 counts he faced.
War Machine faces up to life in prison without parole.
The troubled 35-year-old War Machine arrived at Mack’s Las Vegas home in 2014 and found her in bed with another man. War Machine became irate and attacked Mack and her friend, Corey Thomas.
Mack revealed she suffered 18 broken bones around her eye, a fractured nose, broken and missing teeth, a fractured rib, ruptured liver, several lesions from a knife.
The former pornstar said it wasn’t the first time her former boyfriend had beaten her, but it was the worst mauling War Machine had ever unleashed on her.
What transpired over the next few days was nothing short of bizarre. War Machine went on the run, but was very active on his Twitter account professing his love for Mack.
One week after the assault, War Machine was captured inside an Extended Stay America Hotel in Simi Valley, California. He was immediately extradited to Las Vegas and has been in prison ever since.
Two months following his arrest, it was reported War Machine attempted suicide in his cell.
War Machine certainly isn’t a stranger with the law. He was arrested at least two times before this incident. He was arrested in 2010 for a year after getting into a bar altercation. He was locked up roughly six months later for “some old BS.”
War Machine owns a 14-5 professional MMA record. He was last seen in October 2014 getting submitted by Ron Keslar at Bellator 104.
