The UFC officially announced the addition of four bouts to their end of the year bash, UFC 92 “The Ultimate 2008.” The UFC is notorious for putting on spectacular New Year’s Eve events, and this year is no different. The card will feature two title bouts as interim heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira will face former champ Frank Mir, and 205-pound champion Forrest Griffin will make his first-ever title defense against Rashad Evans. In case that wasn’t enough, former UFC champ Quinton “Rampage” Jackson will square off against former PrideFC champion Wanderlei Silva as the lead-in for these featured bouts.
The UFC announced today that they have added former “The Ultimate Fighter 7” contestant CB Dollaway, “TUF 3” contestant Matt Hamill, heavyweight Cheick Kongo and middleweight contender Yushin Okami. These four fighters complete a star-studded card, assuring that the UFC ends their year with a bang.
Surprisingly, the UFC decided to have Okami’s bout against Dean Lister part of the preliminary card, in favor of Dollaway’s bout, making it unlikely to be televised. Dollaway currently holds a 1-1 record in the UFC, while Okami owns a 22-4 professional record, 6-1 in the UFC, and is likely the top contender to middleweight champion Anderson Silva’s title.
Here is how the December 27th card at the MGM Grand Garden Arena rounds out:
