Strikeforce middleweight champion Jake Shields has announced via his website that he will be an assistant coach on Chuck Liddell’s team for season 11 of “The Ultimate Fighter.”
This will be Liddell’s second stint as a coach on the reality series. He also went up against Randy Couture during the show’s inaugural season.
Shields admitted that he was excited to help the man who got him into MMA in the first place and credits Liddell for how far he has come.
Here’s a piece of what Shields said on his website:
“Just wanted to let everyone know that I am going to be Chuck Liddell’s Assistant Coach on the upcoming season of the Ultimate Fighter on Spike TV. Chuck asked me a couple weeks ago and I’m always willing to help him out.”
Shields will also have to use the six weeks of filming to train for his upcoming bout against newcomer Dan Henderson, which is rumored to take place on April 17th as a part of “Strikeforce on CBS.”
