UFC president Dana White is pulling out all the stops on the promotion’s return to his hometomn of Boston.
On Wednesday, it was reported the highly anticipated shootout between heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic (pictured) and knockout assassin Francis Ngannou will headline UFC 220.
The January 20 event takes place inside TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.
MMAFighting.com was the first to report the matchup, which has since been reported by multiple other outlets.
This title tilt joins the light heavyweight scrap between champ Daniel Cormier and Volkan Oezdemir that was previously announced for the show. No too shabby, eh Beantown?
Miocic is victorious in eight of his past nine outings, including five straight. The firefighter’s last two scraps have been of the title defense variety. He was last seen in May posting a TKO over former champ Junior dos Santos.
Ngannou, meanwhile, is arguably the scariest man walking the face of the earth. He has rattled off 10 straight victories, all ending in devastating fashion. He is just four days removed from disposing of Alistair Overeem in lights out fashion at UFC 218.
Here is the card’s current lineup:
Islam Makhachev vs. Gleison Tibau
Dustin Ortiz vs. Alexandre Pantoja
Thomas Almeida vs. Rob Font
Shane Burgos vs. Calvin Kattar
Kyle Bochniak vs. Brandon Davis
Francimar Barroso vs. Gian Villante
Volkan Oezdemir vs. Daniel Cormier (UFC light heavyweight champion)
Francis Ngannou vs. Stipe Miocic (UFC heavyweight champion)
