With Junior dos Santos out of the picture with his flunked drug test, Francis Ngannou will now fight Alistair Overeem (pictured).
It was announced Wednesday on the UFC’s official Facebook page that the heavyweights will do battle at UFC 218.
Ngannou and dos Santos were slated to dance at UFC 215, but the former heavyweight champion was abruptly pulled after testing positive for a banned substance.
Ngannou is perfect through his past eight outings, with the last five coming under the UFC’s watch. The 31-year-old has posted a finish in all 10 of his professional wins.
His lone blemish came in a decision defeat to Zoumana Cisse in just his second fight four years ago.
Ngannou was most recently seen slapping Andrei Arlovski silly in January.
While Overeem’s body and game don’t look nearly as imposing as they did prior to his drug suspension in 2012, he is victorious in six of his last seven fights.
“The Demolition Man” most recently took a split decision over former champ Fabricio Werdum in July.
UFC 218 takes place December 2 inside Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan. No main event has been assigned to the show.
