You can (allegedly) add UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping to the list of fighters you don’t want to piss off at the gym.
According to TMZ Sports, Bisping allegedly choked a man at a 24 Hour Fitness in Anaheim, CA back in July. Antonio Georgakopoulos claims Bisping became enraged after “taking his weights” without asking if Bisping had finished his workout.
Antonio states Bisping called him a “little punk” and an “idiot” before grabbing him by the throat and squeezing, cutting off his oxygen. Antonio claims he was about to lose consciousness until someone intervened.
The APD were called to the scene, but Bisping was not arrested.
After recording the incident, the APD handed the case over to the City Attorney’s Office who determined there was not enough evidence to proceed with criminal charges against Bisping.
Antonio states he needed a doctor to assess his injuries. He claims to now be suffering from nightmares and anxiety as a result of the alleged attack.
He’s suing for assault, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
Neither Bisping nor the UFC have addressed the issue.
Retired UFC light heavyweight Anthony Johnson found himself in some trouble in 2015 after getting into a shouting match with an “ugly girl” who was stretching on her yoga mat in an area where people were lifting weights. Johnson threw her mat across the gym.
Bisping looks to defend his middleweight title against former UFC welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre November 4 at UFC 217.
