It appears Anderson Silva (pictured) is taking those mysterious blue vials from Thailand to boost his sexual performance again…
On Friday, the UFC was notified by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) that Silva failed an out-of-competition test that was collected on October 26, 2017.
The USADA did not disclose what substance(s) was discovered in Silva’s system.
Silva has been provisionally suspended by the USADA and has been yanked from his November 25 fight against Kelvin Gastelum in Shanghai. The 185-pounders were slated to headline the show.
The UFC is currently scouring its middleweight roster looking for a replacement in order to keep Gastelum in the event.
This marks the second time Silva has flunked a drug test in as many years. “The Spider” failed his UFC 183 out-of-completion, pre-fight drug exam on January 9, 2015 for two different performance-enhancing drubs – Drostanolone, an anabolic steroid, and Androsterone, a form of endogenous testosterone. He then came up clean on a January 19 exam, but proceeded to fail his fight night drug test after posting a unanimous decision victory over Nick Diaz.
Silva cried innocence, fingering a blue vial from Thailand that he consumed for three months despite not knowing its contents other than it would help his sexual performance.
The now 42-year-old was hit with a 12-month suspension, as well as docked $380,000 and had his win overturned to a no contest.
Silva collected a highly controversial decision victory over Derek Brunson in February. It marked his first win since beating Stephan Bonnar at UFC 153 in October 2012.
Coincidentally, this is the second time Silva vs. Gastelum was scrapped due to a positive test. They were initially slated to tango at UFC 212 until Gastelum was pulled for marijuana.
