Does Jon Fitch Deserve Another Crack At Georges St-Pierre?

If you ask Jon Fitch, he thinks he deserves another chance. Fitch has improved as a fighter since he lost to Georges St-Pierre at UFC 87, but so has GSP.

While appearing on HDNet’s ‘Inside MMA’ this past Friday, Fitch said he believes that if he can somehow stop another former St-Pierre foe in Thiago Alves again, there’s no way that he can get passed up for another title shot.

“If I stop him, I don’t see how they could deny me a shot at GSP,” Fitch said.

For those who will argue that St-Pierre has also beaten Alves, Fitch contends that he would have stopped Alves twice while St-Pierre needed a decision to defeat the Brazilian.

The thing that Fitch has going against him is that he was so thoroughly dominated by St-Pierre in their very uneventful first match-up that not many would argue if the UFC had decided to give someone else the nod.

Another scenario would probably be more likely. Fitch’s sentiments already assume that St-Pierre will beat Dan Hardy on the same card that Fitch will be fighting Alves, UFC 111.

What if Hardy somehow dethrones St-Pierre in New Jersey? A showdown with Fitch could happen, but with Paul Daley now in the mix, it would be very interesting to see how the UFC handles that situation.
