The Injury Bug simply just does not want Max Holloway (pictured) and Frankie Edgar to fight.
On Saturday, ESPN.com reported an undisclosed injury has now forced Holloway to pull out of their UFC 222 showdown. The UFC has yet to address Holloway’s status for the March 3 event, which goes down inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Holloway was initially slated to defends his UFC featherweight crown against Edgar in December at UFC 218 until Edgar was forced to withdraw with a broken orbital bone.
The UFC is reportedly scouring its roster to arrange a new main event for UFC 222.
As the lineup currently stands, a heavyweight tango between former champion Andrei Arlovski and Stefan Struve is slotted for the show’s co-main attraction. So, it appears this event is destined to no longer be a pay-per-view with Holloway’s exit.
Here is the card’s current lineup:
Mackenzie Dern vs. Ashley Yoder
Ketlen Vieira vs. Cat Zingano
Sean O’Malley vs. Andre Soukhamthath
Bryan Caraway vs. Cody Stamann
Jordan Johnson vs. Adam Milstead
Beneil Dariush vs. Bobby Green
C.B. Dollaway vs. Hector Lombard
Stefan Struve vs. Andrei Arlovski
