The UFC has signed middleweight Denis Kang, once considered one of the best middleweights in the world during his run of 23 straight fights without a loss from April 2003 to November 2006. After sufferring back to back losses to Yoshihiro Akiyama and Gegard Mousasi, he has regrouped with two straight victories and is ready to take his talents to the Octagon.
American Top Team General Manager Richie Guerriero told MMAJunkie.com today that Kang has agreed to a four-fight contract with the world’s biggest promotion. Kang, who has trained with various camps in the past, is a regular at American Top Team now.
“With the UFC being what it is, I think Denis knew it was a good time to get some exposure here in America,” Guerriero said.
Denis Kang definitely bolsters the UFC’s middleweight division. It’ll be interesting to see if the UFC eases Kang in or throws him right into a possible fight with title implications.
