Hardcore MMA fans were up in arms about the welterweight scrap between Jay Hieron & Joe Riggs not being shown during Showtime’s broadcast of “Strikeforce: Miami.”

Fortunately for us, EA Sports has stepped up to the plate earlier this week and agreed to broadcast the fight for FREE on EASportsMMA.com, the website dedicated to EA’s upcoming ‘MMA’ video game.

Strikeforce and EA have been working hand-in-hand to put together what could be a serious threat to THQ’s highly successful “UFC Undisputed 2009.”

When it looked like Strikeforce wasn’t going to be able to find a suitable opponent for Bobby Lashley,  some fans were hoping to have Lashley shelved for a later card so the Hieron/Riggs bout would be promoted to the televised potion of the Showtime broadcast.

It worked out nicely for all parties as Lashley will make his Strikeforce debut against Wes Sims and you can stream the welterweight contest on EASports.com’s MMA page at 9:05PM EST/6:05PM PST.

“Strikeforce: Miami” will take place tonight at the BankAtlantic Center.
