Various media outlets are reporting that former Dream lightweight champion Joachim Hansen will be stepping down a weight class to challenge Bibiano Fernandes for his Dream featherweight belt on March 21st.
Although the organization hasn’t officially announced the event or the 135-pound contest, MMAJunkie.com is reporting both sides have verbally agreed to the scrap and an announcement is expected shortly.
Hansen holds a respectable 19-8-1 professional record, however lost his lightweight title to Shinya Aoki at Dream.11 in his last outing. The submission specialist caught Hansen in a sick arm bar in the 2ndRound of their battle.
Fernandes captured the Dream featherweight title that same October evening when he took a razor-thin split decision over Hiroyuki Takaya. It was his sixth consecutive victory, improving his record to an 7-2 mark overall.
The proposed 5Round affair is tentatively penciled in for Dream.13 in Japan.
