Former NFL great Herschel Walker will be making his mixed martial arts debut at “Strikeforce: Miami” this Saturday and despite claims he’s hungry for a win, the 47-year-old hardly eats anything.
“He eats one meal a day, at night,” Luke Rockhold, one of Walker’s main training partners, told Yahoo! Sports. “He has salad, soup, maybe chicken soup, and bread, and he’s not afraid to put butter on it. He eats no meat and no fish.”
Pretty much anyone you meet will tell you Walker’s diet isn’t one you’d want duplicated, however it’s served him well for much of his life athletic career.
“It’s just what my body has gotten used to,” Walker said of his eating habits. “I just started eating this way in college. I was going to class. I was a very good student, ran track and played football. I was always doing something so it didn’t have time to eat until the evening.”
Although he’s six weeks removed from turning 48, Walker appears more fit than an rookie running back. He’ll be looking to feast on Greg Nagy inside the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida on Saturday night.
