M1 Global Strikeforce Heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko

After weeks of rumors, Hong Man Choi (1-0-0) has officially been announced as Fedor Emelianenko’s (26-1-0) opponent for New Year’s Eve.

It seems the reason for the delay was Choi’s participation in a K-1 tournament and Yarennoka! officials wanted to be sure he got through without injuries.

That wasn’t the only bit of news as another K-1 HERO’s superstar was also signed on to fight on the card as well.

Yoshihiro Akiyama (10-1-0), who recently defeated top 10 middleweight fighter Denis Kang, will fight against Kazuo Misaki (18-8-2).

Misaki also holds a victories over Kang, Dan Henderson and Phil Baroni.

This will be a huge middleweight showdown and has people arguing about how this may be one of the biggest cards in MMA history.

Ricardo Arona, Gilbert Melendez, Hayato “Mach” Sakurai and “JZ” were all previously confirmed for the card, fight fans can’t wait for New Year’s Eve on HDNet.
