Two titles were on the line Saturday night at “Strikeforce: Miami” and both ended in spectacular fashion as Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos successfully defended her women’s title, and Nick Diaz was able to slug his way into welterweight royalty.

Cyborg entered her catfight with Marloes Coenen a heavy 7-to-1 favorite and it was evident from the get-go why. The lethal Brazilian overwhelmed Coenen with her brute strength and unpredictable/wild/dynamic striking.

Although Coenen fought valiantly, Cyborg was able to bring the fight to an end in the 3rdRound with a barrage of vicious G’nP strikes.

“She’s got a lot of game, she’s got a lot of techniques, and she’s got a great heart,” Santos said after the mauling. “I’ve admired her, and MMA has a lot to get from her.”

Speaking of convincing wins, Diaz was able to use his reach to keep Marius Zaromskis at bay for the majority of their 1stRound slug-out. The open welterweight title bout wasn’t completely one-sided as Zaromskis was able to drop Diaz with a quick combination midway through the contest, however didn’t appear to inflict too much damage as Diaz recovered quickly and continued to press forward.

This was clearly Diaz’ night as he once again showcased his world-class standup game by pelting the Dream champion with one pot-shot after another.

Speaking of pot, the newly minted Strikeforce champion appeared to have the munchies following the 1stRound TKO win, or he was simply insinuating that, despite notching his sixth consecutive W, he’s still hungry for more.

“I’m just ready to go home and eat,” Diaz said. “I knew he was going to run and jump at me, so I prepared for everything.”
