Former Pride middleweight champion, Wanderlei Silva, is looking for his second consecutive win inside the Octagon following three straight losses. Many experts wrote that Silva’s best days were beyond him, but now he’s looking at a showdown with a familiar foe that could put him back into the fold for the UFC light heavyweight title.
“I think after I beat Rampage, it may be possible I fight with the champion,” Silva told Fighter’s Only Magazine.
That possibility would present an awkward opportunity for the “Axe Murderer” as he could possibly face his sparring partner in Forrest Griffin. Both train at the Xtreme Couture facility in Las Vegas and both could be headed for a showdown with one another.
When asked how he would deal with that possibility, Silva responded, “I am a professional and he is a professional. I like him, he is a very nice guy. Outside the Octagon, I am his friend, but inside the Octagon it is a business, a job.”
Both Griffin and Silva will be fighting on the same card at UFC 92, which is set for December 27th at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
