The world’s largest MMA organization has just confirmed 10 bouts for their highly anticipated UFC 111 event on March 27th.
As expected, the card will be capped-off by two championship fights; former two-time heavyweight champion Frank Mir will battle undefeated Shane Carwin in an interim title affair, and welterweight king Georges St-Pierre will defend his strap against the gritty Dan Hardy.
GSP was last seen steamrolling the ever-dangerous Thiago Alves at UFC 100 this past July. The W marked his sixth consecutive victory, bumping his overall record to a dominant 19-2.
Speaking of impressive winning streaks, Hardy has won seven straight in earning his top contender status. The gritty Brit pulled off an impressive victory over Mike Swick at UFC 105 in his last outing.
Carwin was slated to challenge champion Brock Lesnar for his belt tonight at UFC 108, however the wrestler has been dealing with an intestinal issue for the past few months. Carwin holds a perfect 11-0 record, all ending in violent finishes.
Mir has served both as UFC heavyweight champion and interim champ for the world’s biggest MMA organization. He has won four of his last five fights, with his sole loss coming at the hands of the aforementioned Lesnar. Fans last saw him putting Cheick Kongo to sleep at UFC 107.
