The UFC and gaming giant, THQ, has just announced that their debut into the videogame world, “UFC 209 Undisputed,” has achieved “Platinum Hits” and “Greatest Hits” honors for shipping more than 3.5 million units worldwide.

“We are excited that so many fans around the world have helped us achieve these impressive milestones in our debut year,” said UFC President Dana White. “UFC 2009 Undisputed opened the door for us to further share the UFC brand with videogame and fight fans around the world, and we cannot wait to return this spring with the release of UFC Undisputed 2010 on May 25, 2010.”

For us that aren’t privy to gaming lingo, “Platinum Hits” is achieved for Microsoft’s Xbox 360 video game and “Greatest Hits” status refers to Sony’s PlayStation3 computer entertainment system.

“Reaching ‘Platinum Hits’ and ‘Greatest Hits’ status is an honor that speaks to the strength of our software and the power of the UFC brand,” said Vice President of Global Brand Management Brian Coleman. “With a reduced price point, more players can now step into the Octagon™ and take part in the ultimate virtual UFC experience.”

The game made its debut on May 19, 2009 and are now available for the suggested retail price of $29.99. However, it would only make sense to wait for the highly anticipated follow-up, UFC 2010 Undisputed, on May 25th.
