The television number are in for Showtime’s highly anticipated “Strikeforce: Miami” broadcast.  Saturday’s event captured 517,000 viewers, which featured the Strikeforce debuts of former NFL great Herschel Walker and Bobby Lashley and capped-off with two title bouts.

Although “Strikeforce: Miami” fared much better than “Strikeforce: Evolution,” which took place on December 19th on Showtime and garnered 341,000 viewers, it couldn’t catch-up to Showtime’s broadcast of “Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg” event that captivated 576,000 viewers.

Showtime is currently available in approximately 12 million homes, however the event was only aired live on the East Coast and via three-hour delay on the West Coast.

Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos easily defended her 145lbs. women’s title against a very tough Marloes Coenen in the night’s co-main event. Although Coenen fought valiantly, she proved to be no match for Santos’ superior strength and striking.

Strikeforce crowned their first ever welterweight champion in the evening’s featured bout as Nick Diaz stunned Marius Zaromskis in an all out striking match which saw Diaz TKO the Dream welterweight grand prix winner in the 1stRound.
