According to our friends at Fighters Only, the highly anticipated light heavyweight scrap between former champs Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Rashad Evans is a done-deal for UFC 114 on May 29th.
The bitter rivals were originally slated to fight at UFC 107 after completing their assignments as coaches on “The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights,” however Rampage opted to turn his back on MMA and accept the role of B.A. Baracus on the movie remake of “The A-Team.”
A source close to the situation confirmed that bout contracts are currently being prepared and the fight will “definitely” go off inside the Mandalay Bay Event Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Rampage holds an impressive 30-7 professional record, however hasn’t fought since taking an uneventful unanimous decision over Keith Jardine, Evans’ Jackson Submission Fighting teammate, at UFC 96 last March.
Evans bounced back nicely from his only professional loss when he escaped with a unanimous decision victory over Thiago Silva at UFC 108. Although the wrestler dominated much of the matchup, Evans was nearly knocked out in the fight’s closing seconds by a desperate Silva.
Fortunately for Evans, he survived and now that filming has wrapped on “The A-Team,” Evans is hoping Rampage is ready to go, because he certainly is.
“I hear that there’s an actor that came back to the fighting game, the UFC, and Rampage, I know you’re watching,” Evans said after his UFC 108 victory. “Come back, and let’s get it on.”
Here are the fighters rumored for the pay-per-view broadcast:
Efrain Escudero vs. Dan Lauzon
Todd Duffee vs. Mike Russow
Diego Sanchez vs. John Hathaway
Quinton “Rampage” Jackson vs. Rashad Evans
