Now that the WEC will officially be testing the pay-per-view waters, reigning WEC champ Jose Aldo and former king Urijah Faber talk about headlining the highly anticipated broadcast.

Faber holds an impressive 23-3 professional record. The former/current WEC poster boy was last seen submitting Raphael Assuncao in the 3rdRound of their WEC 46 contest.

“I think the guy that poses a threat to Aldo is a guy that’s just as fast as he is,” Faber continued. “That guy also has dangerous strikes, but has the advantage of dictating where the fight goes. That guy might just be me. I’ve got a proven record of submitting and grounding and pounding guys and I’m very difficult to knock out.”

Prior to losing his crown to Mike Brown at WEC 36 in November 2008, Faber was riding a 13-fight winning streak and considered the “Anderson Silva” of the featherweight division. Since the devastating defeat, Faber went on to lose his rematch against Brown while Aldo has taken the weight class by storm.

“It’s Jose Aldo’s belt right now – but in my mind, that’s my belt,” Faber stated. “My belief is that I should have that belt, and I’m gonna go in there and try to get it. I’m out here ready to prove it.”

Aldo is riding a nine-fight win streak en route to an overall record of 16-1. The deadly Brazilian annihilated then-champ Mike Brown at WEC 44 to capture the crown. Yes, that is indeed the same Brown that holds two title fight wins over Faber.

“Urijah is a good fighter, but he’s not taking my belt,” Aldo said. “My dream has been to be the world champion. Now that I have the belt, I am not giving it up.”

WEC 48 will be jumping off inside the Arco Arena in Sacramento, California on April 24th. The price tag for the event will be $44.99, the same price the UFC, the WEC’s big brother promotion, charges their fans for Octagon action.

Without a doubt the145-pound  scrap will be awesome, but is it $44.99 awesome???
