It didn’t take long for former UFC fighter Jorge Gurgel to find a new place of employment. Minutes after being released from the largest MMA organization in the world, he found a new home with Strikeforce. The San Jose based organization has reportedly signed the lightweight to a multi-fight deal.
FiveOuncesOfPain.com was the first to report Gurgel’s new employment status.
“There are some amazing contenders in my weight class including Josh Thomson and Gilbert Melendez,” said Gurgel. “I will do whatever it takes to climb to the top of this league.”
Although he posted a disappointing 3-5 record for the UFC, Gurgel feels confident about his chances of succeeding outside of the Octagon.
“I am very excited to be a part of Strikeforce and given a chance to fight new blood and capture a belt.”
