Just five days removed from his dominating UFC 109 victory over fellow Hall of Famer Mark Coleman, Randy Couture has been approached by the organization to face former middleweight champion Rich Franklin at UFC 115.
Couture confirmed the proposed light heavyweight scrap on Thursday afternoon with Sherdog.com. Although the prospect of facing Franklin is rather enticing, the 46-year-old already has movie commitments in place that might complicate making the July 12th date.
Prior to choking out Coleman this past weekend, “The Natural” took a controversial unanimous decision over Brandon Vera at UFC 105. His perfect 2-0 mark since returning to the light heavyweight division has UFC president Dana White talking title contender once again.
Franklin was last seen getting knocked out by middleweight top contender Vitor Belfort at UFC 103, but prior to that he was able to take a close unanimous decision over Wanderlei Silva.
Both contests took place at a catchweight of 195-pounds.
The two would most likely co-headline the UFC’s debut in Vancouver, Canada as former light heavyweight champions Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell are expected to be the evening’s main event.
