Light heavyweight Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou is the latest fighter to be released from the UFC, as the organization continues to trim their roster. Sokoudjou entered the UFC as one of the most highly touted PrideFC free agents after he knocked out two world class fighters, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Ricardo Arona, in succession. Unfortunately his string of success pretty much ended there, as he was only able to muster up a 1-2 record for the UFC.
He entered his last Octagon bout as a heavy favorite over the little known Luis Arthur Cane at UFC 89. Sokoudjou looked average, at best, throughout the bout, and ended up getting knocked out in the 2ndRound.
Sokoudjou was heavily pursued by many MMA organizations after PrideFC folded, however he wanted to challenge himself against the world’s best. Unfortunately, he never earned the right to face the division’s elite inside the Octagon, and now finds himself looking for a new home.
