The Ultimate Fighting Championship has officially announced the long-rumored light heavyweight rematch between Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and champion Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida at UFC 113 from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada.
Machida took a controversial unanimous decision over Rua at UFC 104 on October 24th in Los Angeles, CA which prompted UFC president Dana White to schedule an immediate do-over.
“The first fight between Machida and Shogun was very controversial. I think fans are very excited to see them fight again and find out who the best light heavyweight in the world is,” White said in a press release.
Tickets for “UFC 113: Machida vs. Shogun 2” go on sale February 20th, the same night that UFC 110 takes place, but if you are a Newsletter or UFC Fight Club member you can buy tickets on either February 18th or February 19th, respectively.
UFC 113 was originally scheduled to take place on May 1st, but was moved back a week to accommodate Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s return to the boxing ring.
