Affliction Entertainment’s middleweight bout between newly crowned Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Renato “Babalu” Sobral against Matt Lindland has been shelved in favor of a Vitor Belfort-Lindland bout. Word is that Babalu will remain on the “Day of Reckoning” card, however he will face an opponent that is yet to be named.
FiveOuncesofPain.com was the first to announce the lineup change, however Affliction Entertainment has yet to confirm the bout.
According to the report, Richard Wilner, Babalu’s agent and attorney, said Affliction preferred the Lindland-Belfort fight, so Sobral opted to pull out of the match-up, however remain on the card against a different opponent.
Affliction will once again separate their evening into two parts, with the preliminary bouts airing LIVE for free on HDNet, and the main bouts, which will include Lindland and Babalu’s bouts, will be available on pay-per-view.
