Multiple news outlets are reporting that a lightweight scrap between the controversial Melvin Guillard and Thiago Tavares is set for UFC 114 on May 29th.
MMAJunkie.com was the first to report that both parties have agreed to the fight and bout contracts should be in place shortly.
Guillard is fresh off a lopsided unanimous decision victory over Ronys Torres at “UFC109: Relentless” last Saturday. After falling on some hard times, the former “The Ultimate Fighter 2” contestant seems to have found his groove after rolling off wins in four of his last five scraps.
Tavares fought Nik Lentz to a draw at “UFC Fight Night 20” in January, it was his first bout in a year. The American Top Team-trained fighter endured an injury-plagued 2009 campaign which saw him take a unanimous decision over Manny Gamburyan in his only action of the year.
There’s no word whether the bout will end up on the televised portion of the pay-per-view broadcast, but it’s likely the 155-pound contest will take place on the non-televised portion of the show.
