Bellator Fighting Championships has announced the signing of Jore Masvidal. The American Top Team fighter has agreed to compete in the organization’s lightweight tournament. Just last week, the rookie organization announced the signing of highly touted Eddie Alvarez as well.
Masvidal has posted 16-3 record having fought for multiple MMA organizations throughout his career, including Sengoku, Strikeforce and Bodog Fight. The exciting lightweight has won 10 of his last 11 bouts.
The BFC and ESPN Deportes will partner together to produce 12 two-hour shows, which will be aired on the network. The show will begin airing in April and consist of featherweight, lightweight, welterweight, and middleweight tournaments.
Each tournament winner will earn up to $175,000 for a total of three wins. 1stRound winners will receive $25,000, semi-finalists $50,000, and finalists $100,000. Fighters eliminated from the tournament will also be well compensated.
