Former WEC lightweight champion “Razor” Rob McCullough will look to get his career back on track at WEC 38, as he will be taking on Marcus Hicks. McCullough, once considered the class of the WEC’s 155-pound division, has dropped two of his last three bouts, including his last outing to Donald Cerrone at WEC 36. That fight was considered a top contender bout, as Cerrone is now headlining the event against champion Jaime Varner.
McCullough’s career seemed to spiral downward after he lost his title to Varner earlier this year. Prior to that knockout loss, he had won his previous nine bouts.
Hicks currently holds an 8-1 professional MMA record. He lost to Varner in his last cage appearance at WEC 35, in what was Varner’s first title defense.
The event is scheduled to take place on January 25th at the San Diego Sports Arena in San Diego, California.
